Statement of Goals
-
My goal is to obtain my Bachelor degree of Applied and Technical Studies Individualized Studies in Surgical Technology and Surgical First Assisting. I am in my Senior year at Kent State University, in the city of Kent, Ohio. I received my Associate degree of Technical Study Individualized Program, May 2023. I began my college career in 1991, but withdrew to have my son who will be 32 this year. In order to continue to educate future graduate students trying to obtain their associate degree from a post-secondary institution specializing in Surgical Technology, I will need a degree higher or above according to the institutions that maintain our articulation agreement. This mandate came from our Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC-STSA) www.arcstsa.org.

Prior to the mandate that all schools teaching Surgical Technology must present the student with an Associate degree. No longer are the days of accepted schools providing a certificate of completion for Surgical Technology. Students graduating from a non- accredited class, are no longer eligible to sit for the national exam accredited by the Committee on Accreditation Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) www.caahep.org and National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) achieving the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA). All students graduating must obtain an Associate degree of Technical Studies from a sponsoring institution.

After being an employee of current staffing/temporary/contract positions, I have direct experience as to what the client needs and what the employee needs to have a successful relationship. With the possibility of having a direct permanent hire.
Also, by performing in surgery, makes me eligible to obtain travel positions. There needs to be a current work history for some as low as (1 - 2) one to two years of experience in the surgical department in order to obtain the position as a travel medical professional. It is essential that you come in the door running with no orientation and flexibility.
-
By finishing my degree, I will become the first in my immediate family to obtain a Bachelor degree in Applied and Technical Studies. That will be my LEGACY! I never gave up even when people told me, NO!
I will be educated on how to start and expand my Staffing Agency Firm. I will be a college educated previous staff employee and staffing firm employee, owner, operator of a national/global Staffing Agency making A Million dollars within my company within five (5) years. I will be destroying generational curses and creating generational wealth and prosperity.

My name is Charlotte Walker Cloyd, wife of Ivan Cloyd, mother to Ian and Ayanna , daughter to Virginia and Floyd
I am the wife of Ivan, mother to Ian and Ayanna, daughter to Virginia and Floyd. Granddaughter of William Henry and Charlotte on the maternal side with Van and Delores on my paternal side. Sister of my two (2) biological siblings born from Mother and (3) three from Father, Foster’s sister and brothers to name and cousin to a whole lot of Bias McClendon family on the maternal side and Wright Reese on paternal side. Now that I am married, I have a sister and brother- in - love to my husband’s brother and sister, and stepmother to his (3) three sons, and a Pastor for a father-in-love (father-in-law).
On the professional level I began working in my professional career. I am the Clinical Coordinator of Choffin School of Surgical Technology and Lecturer of Surgical Procedures. When I was nominated to be the new director of the program after being an alumni Class #8 from the previous long-standing director of 15 years but being instrumental to the start of the program. I received a promotion by the administration that did not read the requirements for each of the accreditation bodies. It is a mandate that the new director has at least an associate degree or better. After successfully accomplishing Class #33 in the middle of a Pandemic and graduating a month later because that same accreditation body would not let students graduate without actual clinical not simulation. So, that meant that we had to wait for hospitals to start doing elective surgery again with students in the room. On to the next year where administration hired an approved director that resigned once it was decided that Eastern Gateway Community College was going to be our new institution and she wasn’t sure of the stability of the program. With her new information she resigned when Class #33 graduated June 4, 2021. It is needed to have an institution that is a part of Higher Learning Commission that can award Associates degrees because that similar accreditation body mandated that all Surgical Technology programs become an associate degree program or lose accreditation.
